Mileage check |
The mileage check is carried out on the basis of two sources:
- The technical condition of the motorcycle (whether the wear of individual parts corresponds to the number of kilometers traveled)
- The traceable history, which can be based on the service book if the motorcycle was purchased in South Africa, or on the basis of the first registration

Motorcycle background check |
The motorcycle background check determines when and by which Authorised Harley-Davidson dealer was the motorcycle first put into service, or who was the first owner.
- The Harley-Davidson Certified program only covers European specification H-D motorcycles (VIN code starting with 5HD...).
- This means the motorcycle is designed for the European market and meets all legislative and technical requirements for operation on European roads.
- Motorcycles owned by Authorised H-D dealers (for example, buyouts against account and demo motorcycles) have the advantage in that in the vast majority of case, the dealer has detailed knowledge of the history of operation of the motorcycle, service maintenance history and indepth knowledge of the motorcycle technical condition without hidden defects.
- Customer-owned motorcycles are motorcycles in the possession of the customers' preferred Harley-Davidson dealer and have been inspected for roadworthiness at an Authorised dealership. Although the motorcycles are owned by the customer, the dealer has inspected their condition and is the agent for the sale. Unfortunately, these motorcycles cannot be financed through Harley-Davidson Finance.

Technical Inspection |
- The inspection of the technical condition of the motorcycle is the same for all Authorised Harley-Davidson dealers.
- A detailed record of each inspection, signed by the technician carrying out the inspection, is available to the customer
- The report includes follow-up recommendations for possible repairs and maintenance
- The inspection includes a 60-point check covering the entire motorcycle
No. 15 - checking the motorcycle on the DT II diagnostic device
No. 20 - checking the front cylinder compression
No. 38 - checking the condition and tension of the drive belt
No. 49 - checking electrical components
No. 60 - checking the primary chain for tightness and correct tension
